[REVIEW] by C: Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse POREraser
Hey lovelies! Here's a cult product that's been reviewed and raved by many beauty critics - the UV Under Base Mousse by Shu Uemura. Shu Uemura is a brand I've always wanted to try but the price tag was always a huge deterrent for me. But of course I couldn't walk past a deal at Duty Free on my way back to Australia from Korea. I've now been using this on and off for about 10 months, and I'm regretting why I haven't been using this more often!
The POREraser claims to provide a "pore-less, semi-matte finish" perfect for those with large pores and oily skin concerns i.e. me. It has SPF 35 PA+++ and comes in two shades Beige and Pink.
A petite 50g pump can that feels sturdy in the hand. Being a liquid-to-foam formula I guess pump is the only way to package the product, but it can be a b*tch to get used to when you haven't used it in a while. It's so hard to control how much you pump! :S
If you're after coverage, this ain't the product for you. But if you're after pore minimisation and a smooth canvas for makeup, this will rock your world. I've got no idea why Shu Uemura decided to emphasise the "UV" in the name for all their mousses, but they sure as hell meant it when they emphasised the "POREraser". This baby will vanish every pore like no tomorrow, leaving a smooth surface ready for foundation.
Right after applying the mousse, it leaves a cool, fresh sensation. There is no particular smell, and even though it's a water based mousse I felt a slight tightening sensation on the skin which might be how it minimises the appearance of pores.
Here's a comparison photo of no makeup, after applying mousse, and after full makeup:
And here's a rather intimidating (#sorrynotsorry) close up shot:
Pros & Cons
Minimises appearance of pores.
SPF 35 PA+++ for sun protection.
Provides smooth canvas for foundation.
Pump is difficult to get used to.
Amount is hard to adjust per pump.
For those of you like me who suffer from enlarged pores, I highly recommend this Shu Uemura UV Under Base Mousse POREraser as a primer. I've already used up my first bottle and am now up to using my second one. Even though the bottle may seem small it does last you a while - I used it roughly 2-3 times a week and it lasted me nearly a year.
I hope you guys enjoy the long weekend and have a safe Easter break!
