This is a little different to what you usually see from us but one of our goals this year is to do more personal posts like this. Not only to mix it up a little but to show who Marcelle really are.
So I really cannot believe it's March already. It only seemed like yesterday that we were preparing for the holiday season and suddenly, BAM, it's time to go back to work/uni. So what have we been doing in the last 3 months?
Crazily enough, Court and I worked all through the Christmas/New Year period and did not even start our actual "holiday" till much later. We went to our first cricket game (thanks to work for free tickets) and found that we got bored pretty quickly. Who knew there'd be fireworks at the cricket?
We went to the beach only once this summer. Yes you read right. Our skin were pretty pasty white when we went and despite the super hot 40°C weather, we did not look that much different afterwards. Sunscreen is a must, boys and girls. I like Mordialloc beach because parking was pretty easy and it wasn't that crowded but the sand was so coarse that my feet were really sore afterwards. Exfoliating to the extreme.
There were a couple of birthdays and man am I starting to feel old. Not to mention all the food we ate and even made. My personal highlight was the rice burger that we spontaneously created. It tasted amazing. Unfortunately this was not reciprocated with a lot of physical activity...
More minimal movement activities include getting into touch with my inner nerd. I learnt a lot of new board games, some of my favourites were 7 Wonders and Ticket to Ride. Fabulous games that I would recommend to everyone. One of my aims this year is to read more. I started the Goodreads 2014 Reading Challenge to set myself a numeric goal. So far so good. Future posts will hopefully have a "currently reading" section. Last night I started Moon over Soho by Ben Aaronovitch which is the sequel to Rivers of London. These books are a little unique to what I usually read because they feel so innately British, but at the same time what seems to be a mash of Harry Potter + Dr Who + Sherlock is completely down my alley.
Court ended up attending White Night till 7am. Crazy I know. But it looked like a lot of fun.
February was not so eventful. We've been on placements all month and that's just a start to our busy final year of study. In fact we're out again in a couple of weeks and in rural during May. Which means it's going to be hard for us to post regular or even have enough energy to be inspired. But that's not going to stop us. We've also got a new exciting project coming up next month. Watch this space!
