[HOW TO] by M: 5 minute day to night

HAPPY NEW YEAR EVERYONE! I would like to thank you all who have visited us this past year and for giving us your support and advice in the creation of Marcelle. This has been a great adventure for both of us and I have enjoyed it immensely. I have learnt something every step of the way whether it be a technical skill or even something I hadn't realised about myself before. So look forward to great things in the coming year and we hope for your continued support.

What I used in my morning rush

I have been working almost non-stop these holidays, even till 9.30pm on New Years eve. So you can imagine the rush to look presentable that late at night before we went out. I was looking a little tired by then and hadn't retouched during the day. So what happens when I'm strapped for time?

Life savers to look presentable

Goals to look fresh and ready for the night:
1. Look awake
When assessing my base makeup at the end of the day, I realised that it actually held up pretty well so I did not feel the need to add too much. So a little highlighting concealer, Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Dark Circles Treatment Concealer under the eyes to brighten up the area and reduce the tiredness look.

2. Vavavoom eyes
I was running late that morning so I didn't even get a chance to curl my lashes and add mascara. So as a result my eyes were looking a little boring. The Physician's Formula Eye Booster in deep brown gives an understated look, so I made everything darker and smokier. I had left my SAX Eye Delight palette at home so I was using Court's Naked2 but I would have essentially done something similar. Smudging a dark colour in the outer corners and bringing a little down my lower lash line. Then going over the brown liner with K-Palette 1 Day Tattoo Eyeliner in black. A quick curl and some very black Maybelline Colossal mascara for a little volume. I would have also added some false lashes if I had more than just 5 minutes.

3. Statement lips
NYX Xtreme Lip Cream in bonfire is a favourite of mine. I prefer a bright deep pink to a red because it is more flattering on my skin tone. A lip brush is mandatory no matter how late you're running. Otherwise it will be a mess.

4. Volumised hair
Dry shampoo is a life saver in these situations. I naturally have very flat straight hair anyway so you can imagine how lifeless it looks at the end of the day. A little spritz of Batiste Dry shampoo brings a little something back.

So that's essentially what I do when I need to look a little more social ready very quickly. I hope you all had a fun and safe start to the new year.

  1. Thank you for these tips. I can't be bothered to spend hours in front of the mirror. 5 minute make up hacks are a real blessing for me.
