[REVIEW] by M: Veet Easy Wax Electrical Roll-on

At home wax products have never worked well for me. Not only am I messy but also extremely clumsy which only equates to failure. You can imagine how worried I was when Beautyheaven sent me the Veet Electrical Roll-on kit. (The trial itself was for the new sensitive cartridge but I used the normal one in this review.) Perfect timing though, winter was ending and  uni balls were fast approaching and those hairy legs needed a yanking.

RRP: $39.99
Claims:
Discover the new Veet® EasyWax™ Electrical Roll-On – an innovative self-heating wax system with a roll-on applicator for salon wax results at home.
Formulated with the same ingredients as the waxes used in waxing salons, Veet® wax removes hair from the root at first application, and is effective on hair as short as 2mm.It is specifically formulated with natural beeswax for all skin types including sensitive. Skin feels moisturised with results for up to 4 weeks!

Packaging:
The device itself is very compact. Even when the cartridge was inserted it feels light and comfortable in the hand. The stand is usable but not the most stable though. You do have to put it in properly to make it stand. I was worried that it would tip over and wax would get on my floor. It took more than 40 mins before the roller applied smoothly.  Once heated the wax itself was very comfortable to the touch, not hot at all.

Use/Results:
Legs
What I really liked about this product is that the roller dispensed the perfect amount of wax each time. If I were to do it freehand, it would be both thick and uneven. The wax is bright pink and this helps you see where it is being applied. Once you smooth the strip downwards (in the direction of hair growth), it is yank time. I was so surprised how well it worked. There were a few stubborn ones that I had to get with a pair of tweezers afterwards. The other surprise was that there was no sticky residue left on the skin.
There was no info about how often you can reuse a strip and how the wax would stack. So I tried it to see how many applications I could get away with. Surprisingly  I was able to do my whole leg before there was residue left. By the end there were small chunks of wax that came off the strip. But still easily removed.
My legs felt amazing for the next week or so. The smoothest they have been in a long time. There was no redness or irritation despite my scaly dry skin.

Underarms
The pamphlet does say that there is an extra attachment/cartridge designed for the underarms but this size fit  me quite well because I really don't have the smallest body anyway.
This was so much more awkward to do though, compared to the legs. The results were quite disappointing, especially since the legs went so well. I did pat the area dry in preparation.
So the info says that the wax would stay the same for 15 minutes unplugged. So I tried this for my underarms. Worse idea ever. It cooled very quickly and it was so painful to apply. Hence I plugged it in for another 10 minutes (despite the info saying 5 mins) and it still did not feel soft enough. The result after all that was not clean. Only half of the hair came out and there was a lot of wax left. Even when I ran the strip over it, it was still sticky. Everything was a mess. Water does make the wax less effective so I applied talc to my other underarm to try to absorb the excess moisture to see if it makes a difference. The results? Not that much difference.
I gave up and tried to clean it up. Since water does not work on this wax, cleansing pads were included. They were different to what I imagined. Instead of "removing", the pads kind of "dissolve" it resulting in a light pinkish stain and an oily feeling. Though it did disappear by the next day.

Overall:
I ended using 3 strips all up. 1 for each leg and 1 for both underarms. The wax does not leave my skin red at all.
ProCon
Applicator applies wax evenlyWax takes a while to heat up to a usable texture
Does not leave any residue on the skinPainful to apply if not at the right temperature
No irritation/rednessNot usable texture if not plugged in
Able to reuse the cotton stripsCord too short for underarm application
Wax can't be cleaned easily with water

This is a good idea but honestly it is a lot quicker and easier to use an epilator. But on my legs the wax does provide a much smoother finish. Is it weird that I kept stroking them because they felt so nice?
So I would use this for a special event where I want to show off these awkward limbs.
