[REVIEW] by C: Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter Part 1

Since Australia is always so slow in jumping on the band wagon especially in terms of beauty products, it was only around this time last year that we were introduced the much raved about Revlon Lip Butters. I have seen many reviews and swatches and have been anticipating on getting my hands on some myself. Then when they finally arrived in Aussie land, they were retailing for over $20 AUD each. Over-priced much?? :( And being a stingy Asian I waited for a sale to begin, already having thought of which shades to buy. And when the sales were on, I grabbed Tutti Frutti as my first shade. My first impression? Way too bright. Was not in love with it at all. But, contrary to what I thought back then, I may have a different view on it now. Keep reading to find out why!

Revlon Lip Butter in Creamsicle, Peach Parfait, Tutti Frutti, and Berry Smoothie.

I purchased Berry Smoothie next, in the hopes that I would like it more. And I did. I loved how it applied and how natural the colour looked on my lips. My lovely friend Cat (www.khatsii.com) gave me Creamsicle as part of my birthday gift last year, while I recently purchased Peach Parfait which is apparently everyone's favourite - including me. The lip butters are all very creamy, smooth, and moisturising with sheer pigmentation.

Okay, so let's get down to the swatches and individual reviews!

My bare lips showing my natural lip colour.

Creamsicle
Creamsicle dampens down my natural lip colour when applied. It is a nude colour for a natural look. There is no shimmer or glitter to it, but it gives a glossy finish. The only thing I do not like is how it tends to emphasise the lines & dryness of my lips. They would have to be fully moisturised before applying this shade, to really pull it off.

Peach Parfait
Just gonna say, this is my favourite out of the four. It gives my lips a natural tone plus shimmer. As you can see on my arm swatch, it has micro gold glitters which leaves a 'gritty' feeling on some people, but I personally did not find this the case at all. It applies smoothly and leaves my lips looking fresh and natural.

Tutti Frutti
As I mentioned earlier, I was not happy with this one since it is way too bright for my liking. But now, I actually reach for this shade quite often for my daytime look. There's no glitter but is glossy. I use it interchangeably with the Lancome L'Absolu Nu in 107 Corail Tutu for my daily uni look. They are both coral in colour, moisturising, and sheer. But I find myself reaching for Tutti Frutti more than I do for Corail Tutu.

Berry Smoothie
I would describe this one as a darker version of Peach Parfait. It has red micro glitters compared to gold ones for Peach Parfait, which gives it a deeper tone. I don't wear this colour during the daytime though, because it is more on the mature side. I wear this colour when I have to dress formally for an event or for a night-time look.

Here is an arm swatch of all four. They are all very smooth and sheer.

The breakdown:
  • Price: ~$22 AUD
  • Packaging: More on the cutesy side, but has sturdy casing.
  • Favourite colour: Peach Parpait
  • Colour payoff: All are true to colour, but are sheer and transfers easily.
  • Application: All very smooth and creamy.
  • Moisture: Very hydrating.
  • Lasting power: Not for long-wear. Lasts around 2 hours on me without eating or drinking.
  • Repurchase: Yes.
  • Overall rating: 8/10

Love, Court

  1. lol 'stingy Asian', no you're not stingy, it's simply not fair how expensive some cosmetics are here :(

These colours look great, I only have berry smoothie which I wear a lot but after seeing your swatches, peach parfait looks like my next buy!

  2. Not stingy at all!!! The price is absurd and IMO they are so not worth it! Ultimately all these are is tinted lip balm and it annoys me that they put such a high RRP on them. I bought 1 lip butter and that was while I was in Europe because they worked out to be a little cheaper. I wasn't sold so didn't bother to buy more lol

  3. I refuse to pay full price for these here in Aus, also considering you don't get much product in the tube :( Hey, you are nominated for a Liebster award on my blog btw :)
